There’s something special about seeing an artist evolve in real time, especially one whose music has been part of your own story. Pulling up to the 2 Chainz book event, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Being from Atlanta, I've been tapped into his music since high school, but those records were part of the soundtrack growing up. His book is titled The Voice In My Head is God, and he came to CSN - College of Southern Nevada, to discuss his spiritual journey, his love for his mom, and how his platinum selling records changed his life. When 2 CHAINZ & The Voice in my head is god Came to Las Vegas
What stood out most that night wasn’t just the legacy… it was the growth. Hearing him speak, you could feel the shift. There’s intention behind what he’s building now. Beyond the music, he’s stepping deeper into who he is as a businessman, a storyteller, and a voice for the next generation. It was inspiring in a real way, especially for young Black men coming from places like Atlanta, where his journey hits even closer to home.
Moments like that remind you that evolution is part of the process. Reinvention isn’t abandoning who you were, it’s expanding on it. And the energy in the room reflected that.
Huge credit to Chef Stacey Dougan for curating such a meaningful experience. Along with the discussion, she created light vegan bites for her VIP guests, that brought together her passion for healthful food and working in the music industry. This wasn’t just an event, it felt like a true gathering of community. You could tell it meant something for her to step back into this space, and she did it with intention and care.
Nights like this are why we create, why we document, and why we show up. I'm grateful to have been there to capture it.
